In December, the British managed to slightly reduce the backlog in milk supply. After the minus of 7 percent in November, an estimated minus of 5 percent is an improvement. However, it does not appear that the improvement in the milk price is reflected in this.
The first figures from the British Ministry of Agriculture (Defra) show that the British milk supply in November is behind by 7 percent. This brings the milk supply to 1,079 million liters in November.
In December, the backlog decreases slightly. For example, the latest estimates show that a minus of 5 percent is written, which means that the production comes out to 1,150 million liters. The recovery of the milk supply brings the milk supply back in line with that of 2014/15.
December makes up for something after the previous months. For some, this is the first sign that the rising milk price is beginning to have an effect. However, it is still too early to draw this conclusion. Milk supply generally increases between November and December and that seems to be the cause of the current increase.
