Once again, there is no legal basis for outdoor grazing. Good news for the sector, which is doing everything it can to get more cows out into the pasture. It looks like more farms will start grazing again next year. But it does not alter the fact that a motion to look again after 2020 did not receive a majority.
In recent weeks, the subject of grazing has returned to the political agenda. Shortly before the elections, the proposal for compulsory outdoor grazing failed. Esther Ouwehand's motion was rejected.
The motion that was adopted was that of SP, GroenLinks and D66. It states that if the sector turns out not to have achieved its goals after 2020, grazing will still be included in the law. Which means that the percentage of 80 percent must then be achieved.
Jaco Geurts, CDA, made another attempt to introduce dairy farmers to politicians. However, the motion for a working visit to dairy farmers was rejected.
