FrieslandCampina announces that it will not record any growth in the milk lake for January. However, 2,9 million euros in milk money was withheld as a result of the standstill measure. This corresponds to 9,2 million kilos of milk.
Compared to December, FrieslandCampina has not noted any further increase in milk supply. A standstill measure has been in force since 9 January 2017. This is to prevent a further expansion of the milk pool. Which is used on the one hand as a head start on the phosphate reduction measures and on the other hand prevents a shortage of processing.
In the period 9 to 31 January 2017, 3.715 dairy farms supplied a total of 9,2 million kilos of milk above the comparison volume. 'A deduction of 31,50 euros per 100 kilos of milk applies to these companies.' This results in a total deduction of 2,9 million euros.
Not only is milk money withheld, but a premium is also paid. For example, 7.880 dairy farmers delivered a total of 35,7 million kilos less milk compared to the comparison volume. A surcharge of EUR 100 is paid for every 10,19 kg of milk less. A maximum allowance for 10.000 kg less milk delivered per month can be earned. The money from the surcharge comes from the discount.
As things stand now, the scheme will run until March 1. After that, the phosphate reduction plan is expected to come into effect.
