Almost all milk prices in the plus for January

January brought higher milk prices for most dairy farmers, according to the international milk price comparison. Only Milcobel and FrieslandCampina in which there are game-breakers. It is not possible that an average increase is recorded compared to December.

In January, the various dairy processors set an average milk price of EUR 32,94 per 100 kg of milk. This at 4,2 percent fat and 3,4 percent protein. A plus of 0,54 euros compared to December and a significant increase compared to 2015. At that time, the average price did not exceed 29,24 euros per 100 kg of milk.

Despite the correction of 2,80 euros, FrieslandCampina takes fifth place. All changes to the milk price regulation have been included in this calculation. DMK and DOC Kaas have also been merged from 2017. DMK notes a price of 31,33 euros per 100 kg of milk. Only the Irish processors pay less for the milk.

A striking high place goes to Milcobel. Despite a drop in milk price of EUR 35,01, we were still able to hold on to second place. Arla follows with 33,83 euros per 100 kg of milk.

Outside the European Union, the Swiss Emmi remains the frontrunner. There, 100 kg of milk yields 47,39 euros per 100 kg of milk. Prices in the US fell, but a 39,77 euro is still recorded. The reason that the size of the milk lake there is still growing. With 33,36 euros more, Fonterra is in the European middle bracket.
