Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina says it has reached more than 10.000 households, approximately 50.000 people, in Dawpon Township (Myanmar) with its new campaign.

FrieslandCampina's campaign must demonstrate the importance of dairy products, especially for children. The dairy cooperative also wants to increase awareness of a balanced diet.

Food pyramid should help with daily intake

First phase
The first phase of the campaign started in February. In that phase, the dairy cooperative set to work on a food pyramid. That pyramid should help the residents of Dawpon Township with the daily intake of vegetables, meat, legumes, fruit, milk, yogurt and cheese. The pyramid is based on our ''disc of five''.

The importance of a balanced diet was also explained in that phase. For example, the cooperative, the residents of Dawpon Township, explained that dairy products stimulate the growth of children. The households were instructed by the cooperative to measure their children in the coming period.

To clearly demonstrate the growth, FrieslandCampina supplies all households with Dutch Dairy Milk.

1 in 10 children
Pascal Bardouil, managing director at FrieslandCampina, says that this campaign helps to raise awareness for a healthy diet. FrieslandCampina's campaign also ensures that more people in Myanmar add milk to their daily drinking habits.

1 in 10 children from Myanmar drinks milk every day

'We recently did an impressive study showing that only 1 in 10 children in Myanmar consume milk on a daily basis. That is shockingly lower than in other Asian countries," said Bardouil.

Nourishing for Nature
This campaign is part of the 'FrieslandCampina Nourishing for Nature' mission. With this mission, the dairy cooperative strives to provide people all over the world with dairy products. In this mission FrieslandCampina mainly wants to reach children by pointing out the essential nutrients in milk.
