RVO.nl will not make it to 1 May

Only in June levy on the milk money

2 May 2017 - Herma van den Pol - 3 comments

The Phosphate Reduction Regulation 2017 has managed to loosen tongues in recent days. The first results are promising, but more effort is still required. Meanwhile, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) failed to process all objections before 1 May. The first settlement of the LSU scheme therefore takes place in June on the basis of the milk money for May.

Not in May, but in June, the LSU scheme will be settled for the first time with the May milk bill. This bill is always for the month before. The milk bill for June therefore concerns the settlement for the month of May. Halfway through May, dairy farmers will receive a decision stating whether more or less milk money will be settled from June.

A letter from ZuivelNL shows that the choice was made on 15 May 'to carefully provide the dairy farmer with clarity about the data and the (solidarity) levy to be imposed or the bonus to be received'. The decision is an official decision of the government. The dairy company implements the scheme.

May 1 failed
The RVO has not succeeded in fulfilling the commitments deadline of 1 May for handling the objections, according to a response from FrieslandCampina to questions about the levies and surcharges. Spokesman Ria van der Peet answered the question on Monday whether it was possible to get all the data available on time: 'We don't know yet. RVO is still processing the objections and is working hard to get it all done on time.'

Nothing is known about surcharges yet

Due to the stagnation at RVO, nothing can be said about the size of the possible levy or deduction from the milk money. This does not yet take into account the impact of the most recent amendments to the Regulation.

Third amendment to the Phosphate Reduction Regulation
On Friday, dairy farmers were able to absorb the latest changes to the Phosphate Reduction Regulation 2017. Meanwhile, RVO.nl aimed to have an answer to all objections before 1 May. An aim that has already raised eyebrows, because the first period, March and April, is already behind us.
