After the plus in March, milk supply for April shows a movement that is more in line with market expectations. However, it remains to be seen whether the Dutch milk supply has also charted its course for the coming months. Read more about the milk supply below.
Dutch dairy farmers managed to deliver 1,21 million tons of milk in April. That is a minus of 0,4 percent compared to a year earlier.
The trend of the previous months still continues. This means that the supply level is around the level of a year earlier. One month it is slightly above and the next it is just below. This assumes daily production for the month of February and not monthly production.
Fat content down
Slightly more liters of milk come in, but at the same time the fat content slowly drops. For example, April 2016 yielded a fat content of 4,47 percent, but in April 2017 this did not exceed 4,40 percent. This results in a fat yield of 53.421 tons. That is a decrease of 1,8 percent compared to 2017.
For the whole of 2017, the Netherlands collected 4,81 million tons of milk so far, a decrease of 0,5 percent compared to a year earlier. This includes the complete proceeds for the month of April. The fat yield is 215.377 percent lower at 1,3 tons.
