Germany is struggling with the milk supply, France is not milking very well, but it is not going to work in the United Kingdom either. There they report the earliest peak in 10 years. The culprits are the poor conditions for pasturing.
For a while it looked like the British were going to make up for some of the lesser performance in 2016, but the weather is throwing a spanner in the works. The weather conditions are anything but favorable for grass growth, which is reflected in the supply figures. The highest point was reached on April 29. The earliest spike in 10 years.
Early decline
The early peak means that milk production started a decline 9 days earlier than a year earlier. The British are already not self-sufficient, and in view of Brexit, that is not a good development. Around the beginning of June, the milk supply is back at a backlog of 1,5 percent.
Once again, British dairy cows fail to live up to expectations. Compared to the current forecast, the backlog is even 3 percent. If this trend continues, May will deliver a milk supply of 1.083 million litres. If that prediction comes true, it will mean a significant bloodletting for the milk lake. Dairy Co reports.
New chances
It creates new opportunities for the Dutch market to sell products. In combination with the problems in other regions, it gives room to clean up the market.
