No decision yet in summary proceedings phosphate

26 July 2017 - Kimberly Bakker

A group of 4 lawyers again challenged the phosphate reduction plan on Wednesday morning, July 26. They did this on behalf of 140 dairy farmers, mainly from Brabant.

The dairy farmers believe that they should be treated the same as the farmers from the first round. They believe that the scheme is also for them deactivated must be.

A second room had to be set up

A lot of attention
There was a lot of interest in the summary proceedings. More than 400 dairy farmers had gathered at the court in The Hague. That was more than expected in The Hague, so a second video room had to be set up.

Problems for expansion
The farmers say that the effects of the phosphate regulation in combination with the financial obligations, for example through expansion, cause many problems for dairy farmers.

The state clearly disagreed and thinks that the two things are not comparable. In addition, they say that when everything comes to a standstill, due to these matters, the national phosphate targets will not be achieved either.

The parties sat down together to see if the problems could be solved mutually. That was not successful and so the summary proceedings are currently unsuccessful.

The judge is likely to make a ruling on Wednesday, August 9.
