A biogas network of 10 kilometers is to provide companies in the industrial estate of Denekamp with sustainable energy. The project is being realized by 7 dairy farmers. They build manure digesters on their farm for this purpose.
The 7 dairy farmers from the North Deurningen area are united in Energie Coöperatie IJkoud. "The North Deurningen biogas network is a special project," said chairman Hans Roeleveld.

This installation must ferment the manure into biogas. This is then transported over a 10-kilometre-long biogas network. The customers can then immediately use the biogas for heat production. It is a more efficient way of converting biogas into energy.
Another additional advantage is that the digested manure has a higher nitrogen utilisation. Dairy farmers can save considerably on the purchase of fertilizer as a result.
Capacity
The biogas network will supply a maximum of 1,6 million cubic meters of biogas per year, according to CCS Energie advice. This means that 1 million cubic meters of natural gas can be replaced by this sustainable alternative. That is equivalent to 900 households per year, which also means less CO2 is emitted.
Ambition
Energie Coöperatie IJkoud has the ambition to realize a second biogas hub in the coming years, so that another 14 dairy farmers can join the collective.
