Another record for Dairy Cattle Index
The Countus Dairy Cattle Index manages to set a new record. In the last week of June, the Index came in at 171.8 points. That was already a record at the time, but in the last week of July that limit was already well passed.
In the last week of July, the Countus Dairy Cattle Index, which was compiled in collaboration with DCA, reached 175.1 points. The 10-year average counts as 100 points. At the beginning of the month, the Index was still 171.7 points. The sharp increase is a result of the improving milk prices of the past period.

Milk prices have an influence
The rise in milk prices is one of the reasons for the rise in the Countus Dairy Cattle Index. From the Milk price comparison from LTO It already emerged that the advance prices are no less than €7,62 (plus 29,2%) above the prices of June 2016.
Also the milk prices of Cone, Call Leerdammer en FrieslandCampina have risen. On the cost side, it emerged that the price of standard chunk A falls further. The expectation is that this price will continue to decline in the near future. Last to play too the collection contributions a role for cattle manure. These are much lower than in recent years and also fell a fraction in July.
Forecast for the coming month
Last month there were still doubts about the future of the Dairy Cattle Index and a decline was predicted. That prediction has since been adjusted to a further rise in the Index. It is now expected that the Dairy Cattle Index will only start to fall in week 47. However, then, for example, the high butter prices must be able to withstand. The differences per company will also remain large.
