Milk prices show a significant increase

It has certainly not escaped anyone's attention that milk prices have risen considerably in recent years. But the calculated advance prices for June are even €7,62, or 29,2%, higher than the prices of June 2016. This is apparent from the International Milk Price Comparison of LTO. 

The average milk price for the month of June is therefore €33,69 per 100 kilos. That is also €0,51 higher than the previous month. The gigantic milk price difference compared to June 2016 is not only due to the good milk prices of the past period, but also because milk prices reached a low point in June 2016. Milk prices have been above the five-year average since April 2017.

The biggest risers
The largest increase was put down by the German Müller. This dairy manufacturer increased the milk price by €2 and thus amounts to €34,79 per 100 kilos. This is followed by DMK (€33,90), Savencia (€33,49) and all Irish companies, with an increase of €1 per 100 kilos of milk. The Dutch dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina increased by €0,70 and thus ends for the month of June at €35,75 per 100 kilos. 

A number of milk prices have also risen sharply outside Europe. For example, the price of Fonterra rose by $ 0,25 NZ per kilo of fat and protein. Including an estimated dividend of $0,50 NZ, a milk price of $2017 NZ per kilo of fat and protein is expected for 2018-7,25. That is converted €35,45 per 100 kilos. 

Expectation
The milk price is expected to continue to rise in the coming period. Price increases have already been announced for July and August by DMK (€4 per 100 kilos), Arla (€2,70 per 100 kilos), FrieslandCampina (€1,70 per 100 kilos) and Lactalis (€4 per 100 kilos). .
