Simplify organization

FrieslandCampina is going to reorganize

Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina will soon start a reorganization. The dairy group wants to simplify the organization of the company considerably with this. FrieslandCampina will announce this on Wednesday 16 August.

The dairy manufacturer's organization is currently mainly divided into geographical areas. That's what the manufacturer wants. "FrieslandCampina's new structure must respond better to developments in the market", says Debbie de Wagenaar, spokesperson for FrieslandCampina.

From now on 4 instead of 5 divisions

From now on 4 divisions
The most important part of FrieslandCampina's reorganization is that from now on the company has 4 divisions, instead of 5. These divisions are also directly aimed at the market and have a new name, namely: Consumer Dairy, Specialized Nutrition, Ingredients and Basic Dairy.

Choosing 4 divisions is the first step towards simplification. In addition, changing customer needs also play a role. "More and more consumers in the Netherlands are concerned with responsible and specific food. Examples are sports nutrition and food for children. These changes mean that we also have to adjust our structure." According to De Wagenaar, FrieslandCampina is doing this by tailoring the divisions more towards the market. "For example, the Specialized Nutrition division is mainly focused on that growing group of consumers who are concerned with responsible nutrition."

The dairy manufacturer also chooses to make a narrowing at the top. "The decision-making should take place less at the top of the organization, but should be done by the divisions themselves. These are the people who deal with it on a daily basis," said the FrieslandCampina spokesperson. This should also ensure faster decision-making.

Rather a shift of jobs

Dismissed during reorganization
Earlier it was rumored that the reorganization would also lead to layoffs. However, that does not appear to be correct. "The loss of jobs is not the aim of this reorganization. However, this can of course never be ruled out. It is expected that there will be a shift in jobs sooner," said Debbie de Wagenaar.

This shift is mainly caused by the loss of jobs in the old divisions, while new jobs will be created in the new divisions. "The jobs should actually be filled mainly by our current employees."

FrieslandCampina's new organization must be operational as of 1 January 2018.

Diversion, panic football and you can think of a few more terms. You can clearly see that the cooperative has become too big. Investments abroad show that too many people are in the wrong places. The fight with the members who have all those rules pushed down their throats to keep them tame, such as the recycling guide, shows that the cooperative has completely lost the feeling with the supporters. It would be better to split up the cooperative again....
