According to figures from the European Commission, the Dutch milk price in July was €37 per 100 kilos. This is well above the European average, which was €32,90 per 100 kilos at the time. The frontrunner is Cyprus and Lithuania is the last.
The milk price in Cyprus was €55 per 100 kilos in July. This puts the Cypriots head and shoulders at the top. However, the milk price in Cyprus is not representative. Since 2006, the milk price has barely dropped below €40.
The European ranking is closed by Lithuania. The milk price there came to €27 per 100 kilos. Together with Austria and Finland, dairy processors in the Netherlands paid an average of €37 per 100 kilos.
The Netherlands scores high
Dairy farmers in large producing countries, such as Germany, France and Great Britain, are all paid less than in the Netherlands.
