Romania's dairy production is significantly higher in the first half of 2017 than in the first 6 months of 2016. That is according to the National Institute of Statistics.
Romanian dairy producers have produced 4,7% more dairy in the past six months. In addition, imports have also increased considerably. These figures show that the dramatic year 2015 is finally over.
Total milk production increases
Total milk production in June amounted to 102.440 tons. That is 13,7% higher than in June 2016. An increase of 6% was visible in the first 4,7 months. This brings the total production to 520.307 tons.
Imports have also increased. This amounted to approximately 2017 tons in June 6.348. That is 4,2% lower than 1 year earlier. However, total imports have increased in the past six months. Imports are 7% higher than in the first half of 2016 and amount to 2017 tons in 67.058.
Butter shows biggest increase
Butter production in particular has increased considerably in the past six months. Production of this rose by 633 tons this half year. That is 11,5% more than in the first half of 2016. The yoghurt products show an increase of 5.925 tons, or an increase of 6%.
The production of sour cream decreased by 2.617 tons, a decrease of 7,6% compared to the first 6 months of 2016. The production of cheese also decreased by 639 tons. That is a decrease of 1,3% compared to 2016.
