Butter and cheese prices keep rising

Butter and cheese prices have risen again this week. From the dairy quotations that Boerenbusiness Collected weekly, it appears that current weekly prices have not been so high in the past 10 years.

From the quotations of DairyNL that also appears this week the butter and cheese prices to rise further. The Dutch butter price increases again by €15 per 100 kilos, compared to last week, and this week amounts to €680 per 100 kilos. The German butter price rose slightly less quickly, by €13 per 100 kilos, to €670 to €685 per 100 kilos. 

Unprecedentedly high butter prices
De high butter prices are unprecedented. From the dairy quotations that Boerenbusiness collected weekly, it appears that the current weekly price has not been this high in the past 10 years. Skimmed milk powder, on the other hand, has never been so cheap before.

Cheese prices have never been so expensive this year
The cheese price is also at a high level compared to recent months. Gouda increased again this week by €0,45 per kilo to €3,45 to €3,70 per kilo. The cheese price is now at a higher level than at the beginning of the year. Back then, 1 kilo of Gouda cheese only cost €3,30. Prices in euros per tonne from 2007 to week 34 in 2017.
