1 September 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

The internet platform Alibaba, which is comparable to Amazon, has plans to conquer the Chinese dairy market. The company has signed an agreement with Milk New Zealand for this. The website reports that agraheute on Wednesday, August 30.

Alibaba wants to ship dairy products from New Zealand to China. To this end, it will also collaborate with Mengniu Dairy, the country's second largest dairy. The internet platform has chosen this website because this factory has the most experience in selling dairy products via the internet.

Australia is already doing business with the internet platform

Alibaba is already working with Australia
The internet platform has been working with the Australian dairies for years. More than 1.300 dairy products have already been sold through Alibaba. In addition, the platform already sells vegetables, fruit and milk to China, and the New Zealand dairy industry fits in well with this.

Brand Name: 'Green Valley'
The milk is processed under the name 'Green Valley'. The entrepreneur of that dairy farm has 2.400 dairy cows. Consumers in China increasingly want to know under what conditions food is produced, especially animal welfare, the environment and food quality are important.

Success of the project?
Alibaba expects the project to catch on as demand for speed and home delivery services increases. Sales of New Zealand's dairy products should reach a total of half a billion Chinese.

The internet platform wants to start selling the products on September 8. By the end of this year, the company hopes to sell at least 80.000 liters per month.
