Danone is working on a special campaign to put a stop to the Russian milk price. The French dairy is investing in a gigantic production location in Russia. The required 5.000 cows come from the Netherlands and Germany.
The cows are stabled on a company of approximately 60 hectares, near the city of Tyumen. To get to the location, the cows travel an average distance of 4.500 kilometers by truck. Danone started the big 'livestock move' in May. The last deliveries are scheduled for this month.
Block milk price
The French dairy wants to prevent the milk price in Russia from rising further. In 2017, the milk price has already risen by almost 14%. More supply would slow down the rising trend.
The hunger for dairy in Russia is great. Since 2014, the Kremlin has imposed an import ban on European dairy products and there is a shortage. Judging by the action, the milk price in Russia, in the eyes of Danone, is out of step.
