Successor Tjeerd de Groot

Oscar Meuffels new director NZO

20 September 2017 - Bart-Jan van Zandwijk

The board of the Dutch Dairy Organization (NZO) has appointed Oscar Meuffels as the new director. He succeeds Tjeerd de Groot.

With this choice, the NZO has opted for a candidate from its own organisation. As a Public Affairs manager, Meuffels is already well known within the Dutch Dairy Organization. Meuffels has held this position since 2011.

Advocacy can be continued successfully

NZO chairman Roelof Joosten: "We are pleased that we have been able to appoint a director who comes from within our own organization. I am therefore convinced that the advocacy of the Dutch dairy industry will be continued successfully with his appointment."

Before joining the NZO, Meuffels held several positions at the former Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. He has also worked as a representative of the Netherlands to the European Union. He has been interim director since March 2017. This in connection with the departure of Tjeerd de Groot.

What will Tjeerd de Groot do?
After the elections to the House of Representatives in 2017, Tjeerd de Groot went to the House of Representatives on behalf of D66. His portfolios are Agriculture, Fisheries, Nature, Animal Welfare and Food Production. After working for almost 30 years on making food production more sustainable, De Groot thinks it is time to put this topic higher on the political agenda.
