The interpretation of the term 'land-relatedness' in the dairy sector is subject to considerable debate. That is why NZO and LTO have set up a committee to provide clarity. The parties will announce this on October 9.
The committee must clarify what the concept of land-relatedness in dairy farming stands for. That is important for dairy farming, according to the Dutch Dairy Organization (NZO) and LTO.
In addition, the committee has the task of indicating how the sector can achieve land-relatedness. Pasture grazing, animal welfare, biodiversity, climate and energy are the most important starting points.
Future perspective
The initiators of the committee have indicated in advance that they will adhere to the advice. It is a condition for both parties that the committee develops a widely accepted vision on land-relatedness. This vision must offer dairy farmers a promising future. The members should involve as many parties as possible in this.
The committee has now been formed and consists of 10 people from dairy farming, the dairy sector, the government, nature and environmental organizations and the Center for Agriculture and the Environment (CLM). The chairman of the committee is Ton Loman, former CEO of Agrifirm.
2 committees
A few weeks ago it was already announced that it had also set up a committee for the Network Thorough. It Grass Committee also wants to perpetuate the definition of land-relatedness.
