Vreugdenhil closed the third quarter with a high milk price and the fourth quarter will start with the same milk price. It is good news for dairy farmers. What else is going on and what will the milk price be?
Vreugdenhil records a stable milk price for October. This includes a fat price of €4,05 per kilo and a protein price of €6,50 per kilo. Including the winter bonus of €3,90, the milk price (at 4,41% fat and 3,47% protein) amounts to €42,23 per 100 kilos. This with an annual supply of 600.000 kilos of milk. An annual supply of 800.000 kilos of milk guarantees a milk price of €42,50 per 100 kilos.
Up to and including October 2017, the average milk price is €36,33 per 100 kilos. This with an annual delivery of 600.000 kilos. A major improvement compared to 2016, when the average milk price was €27,40 per 100 kilos.
Additional premiums
Vreugdenhil gives dairy farmers the opportunity to earn a premium of up to €2,10 on the milk price, with €1,50 being earned by applying outdoor grazing. Sustainability yields a bonus of €0,60. The premium for quality is included in the milk price. Separately, €0,23 will be deducted from the milk price for the ZuivelNL schemes.
