After a week of malfunctions and maintenance work, week 46 is a relatively quiet week. It gives the raw milk price a chance to pick up to €33 per 100 kilos (supplied at 4,4% fat). Prices in Germany are more stable. For example, the north of the country has a price of €34 per 100 kilos and the price in the south is €35 per 100 kilos.

Price rally in cream
The price increase of cream is much greater. A week earlier, it had recorded a price of €6,30 per kilo ex works, in week 46 the price will continue to €6,75 per kilo. It is a price that is supported by retail demand. With Christmas approaching, there was an unexpectedly high demand, while the supply is limited.

There was also something wrong with butter this week. ZuivelNL recorded a stable €497 per 100 kilos. A price that, according to the butter trade, is the result of older stocks, which subsequently yield lower prices. Fresh butter, on the other hand, is sold at high prices. It is estimated at €515 per 100 kilos.

Press milk powder
There is again some pressure on skimmed milk powder. Although the EU shows impressive export figures, this does not translate to the market. A direct consequence of the intervention regulation. ZuivelNL keeps the price at €146 per 100 kilos. Skimmed milk concentrate drops to €1.200 per tonne of dry matter ex works. Whole milk powder took a relatively small step back to €252 per 100 kilos.

There are varying sounds with cheese. Gouda and Edam foil remain between € 2,40 and € 2,50 per kilo. At the same time, there is talk of an export that is able to maintain itself well. In combination with the pasture, it may be good news, but the low prices for foil advise caution.

Milk supply
In Germany, the lead over October has increased to 3,8% compared to a year earlier. Week 44 records 4,4% more milk. France recorded an increase of 4,5% more milk over October. November starts with a plus of 5,9%. New Zealand also published new figures. October recorded a gain of 2,7% compared to a year earlier. The backlog has evaporated. The kiwis try to maintain the higher milk supply for a longer period of time, which means that there is still enough milk to arrive.

Forecast milk price
The fundamentals have not changed. For now, the chance of a stable price remains the greatest. The gap between the actual valorisation of milk and the milk price received by dairy farmers remains as large as ever.Room price increased again to €6,75 per kilo.
