Dutch milk processors keep the milk price above €40 in October. Something that is once again confirmed now that Bel Leerdammer has also announced the milk price.
The cheese makers are succeeding well in keeping the milk price in check. For example, Bel Leerdammer keeps the price for fat stable at €3,75 per kilo, compared to €7,54 per kilo of protein. For an annual supply of 600.000 kilos, it yields a price of €40,83 per 100 kilos (at 4,41% fat and 3,47% protein). An annual supply of 800.000 kilos of milk yields a price of €41,06.
Differences negligible
Bel Leerdammer manages to pay slightly more than FrieslandCampina, but slightly less than DMK. Yet the differences are not significant. Cono and Vreugdenhil recorded higher prices in October. It will be interesting to see whether they can keep this up in November.
In the meantime, the cheesemaker with French roots is looking for new suppliers in the Dalfsen area. The requirement is that grazing is practiced.
Surcharges
Dairy farmers who supply Bel Leerdammer have the opportunity to earn a bonus of €2 for full grazing. Partial grazing yields €0,15. In addition, there is a sustainability surcharge of €0,60. The ZuivelNL levy and quality surcharge are included in the milk price.Bel Leerdammer's milk price has risen considerably since July 2016.
