Milcobel has announced that Peter Koopmans will be the new CEO of Milcobel from April 2018. He succeeds Eddy de Mûelenaere. Koopmans has been working for Milcobel since 2014 and before that had a long career in the sugar sector.
Koopmans will lead the largest milk processor in Belgium. For example, 1,5 billion liters of milk are processed annually from 2.800 dairy farms. He himself has a technical background and was involved in, among other things, the construction of the new milk powder factory in Kallo. "He played a key role in the operational improvements in milk processing," the processor said in a press release.
Reorganization and professionalization
Koopmans is the successor of De Mûelenaere, who has already initiated a series of changes. "In recent years, under the leadership of De Mûelenaere, the company has been professionalized and reorganized. An experienced and stronger management has been recruited, which, together with the other employees, has greatly improved the results," said Dirk Ryckaert, chairman of Milcobel.
Before his career at Milcobel started, Koopmans worked in the sugar industry. For example, he won a prize for Tiense Sugar for Entrepreneur of the Year at Tiense Sugar. He also did work for Südzucker. His career in the sugar sector was abruptly cut short. Then he came to Milcobel via a detour.
