Phosphate, pigs and poultry

Production rights still tax deductible

20 December 2017 - Wouter Baan - 8 comments

Minister Carola Schouten of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) has stated in a letter to Parliament that production rights (phosphate, pigs and poultry) are depreciable. Schouten expects 1 January 2028 to be a realistic end date for the rights.

Schouten writes to the House that she sees production rights as a means that must justify the end. By this she means a balance between the production of manure and the available sales space (both within and outside the Netherlands). The Minister of Agriculture thinks it will take approximately 10 years to achieve this balance.

Quick turn
Earlier (last week) it was still supposed that production rights could not be written off, because there was no end date in sight at that time. This is necessary to make production rights depreciable.

is this the first prelude to the (temporary and/or limited) separation of production rights from the various sectors?

Surely this is great news for brokers and banks. The new hot air bubble.

The hope that the decompartmentalization will now continue, according to some experts, is what it ultimately comes down to.
Then more ground bound by plan Vogelaar

there will be no separation, feed manure contracts are also not agreed > they don't want any more cows. First the current production is land-based and then grow with the purchase of land.

The wish of fewer pigs is greater for many than fewer cows. Also at the current coalition. Exchange is definitely being considered. Even though a few adventurous pig farmers are not so happy
