The winter bonus will come to an end in December and that will have consequences for the milk price of Cono Kaasmakers. This does not alter the fact that the average milk price for 2017 is considerably higher than that for the previous year.
Cono follows the example of the other dairy processors. The prices for fat and protein remain unchanged for December. The price for fat remains at €3,55 per kilo and protein is €7,54 per kilo. This means that the cheese maker pays the highest price for protein.
End of winter allowance
Although the raw materials for milk have not changed, the milk price has shown a decline. This is because no allowance will be paid for winter milk in December. In previous years, Cono paid a surcharge for the months of September, October, November, December and January. In 2017, this will only happen in the months of September, October and November.
It means that the milk price shows a minus of €3,25. With an annual supply of 600.000 kilos, this translates into a milk price of €37,89 per 100 kilos (at 4,41% fat and 3,47% protein). The price is exclusive of VAT, but includes a levy of €0,23 for the financing of ZuivelNL. In 2018, this amount will drop again to €0,07 per 100 kilos.
For the whole of 2017, the average milk price was €37,87 per 100 kilos. This with an annual supply of 600.000 kilos of milk. It is a plus of 23,63% compared to a year earlier. At that time the milk price did not exceed €30,63 per 100 kilos.
Other premiums
The milk price is calculated without the premiums for special milk flows. At Cono Kaasmakers, dairy farmers can earn a premium of €2 for grazing. By participating in Caring Dairy, you can also earn a bonus of €0,75. In addition, you can participate in a pilot GMO-free milk. This results in a bonus of €1 per 100 kilos. For the first time, no winter surcharge for the month of December.
