Total value is in the billions
RVO.nl distributed the phosphate rights among 20.670 companies in the first weeks of January, the majority of which are in dairy farming. The phosphate rights have been allocated to animal categories 100, 101 and 102. Almost all dairy farmers in the Netherlands received the decision for the phosphate rights between January 3 and 15.
The current value of the rights is €181 per right. This is compliant the DCA listing phosphate rights of week 3. The 79 million phosphate rights currently represent a total value of €14,29 billion.
Still room left
The total number of phosphate rights granted by the government remains well below the phosphate ceiling. With this number of allowances, dairy cattle phosphate production remains approximately 6,9% below the ceiling of 84,9 million kilos of dairy cattle phosphate. In total, the phosphate ceiling (for the entire livestock sector) is 172,9 million kilos of phosphate.
