Phosphate rights falling at auction

The fifth phosphate auction took place on Thursday 18 January. Various parties have submitted bids from the Interfarms phosphate auction.

This time, 300 kilos of phosphate were offered at the phosphate auction. There were a total of 49 bidders.

Price dropped
The phosphate rights were traded for €181. That is a decrease of €6, compared to the first auction. At the time, 21 bidders participated. The auction started at €125 and closed almost 20 minutes later than planned.

The date for the next auction has not yet been announced. "The intention is to organize these auctions on a weekly basis," says Richard Roddenhof, emigration coordinator at Interfarms.
