Because of cattle fraud

Keurentjes asks dairy farmers to tackle fraudsters

30 January 2018 - Esther de Snoo - 21 comments

Frans Keurentjes, chairman of the FrieslandCampina cooperative, believes that other dairy companies should review their delivery conditions. This is so that they can possibly impose sanctions on deliberately fraudulent milk suppliers.

Keurentjes wants other dairy companies to check their delivery conditions and regulations for the possibility of sanctioning dairy farmers who demonstrably commit fraud.

FrieslandCampina (RFC) has the option of sanctioning member dairy farmers who demonstrably and consciously commit fraud (in accordance with the regulations and articles of association of RFC). This can mean, for example, that the milk is not collected, or that the milk money is reduced.

Almost 7.700 dairy farmers are suspected of fraud with calves

Higher than expected
Approvals makes this statement in response to a letter issued by Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) last week. It states that almost 7.700 dairy farmers are suspected of fraud with the registration of calves. The NVWA has carried out inspections at a total of 93 of the companies in this group. In 45 of those inspections it appeared that the actual situation in the barn deviated from the registration. The NVWA will therefore also check the other dairy farmers.

Waiting for the outcome
NZO has announced that it will not tackle fraudulent dairy farmers within the organisation, but will leave this to the dairy companies themselves. Both NZO and RFC emphasize that they first want to wait for the outcome of the investigation before being able to comment further. They state that at the moment the priority is to get the Identification and Registration System in order.

De NVWA has indicated that it still needs 1 month before there is more clarity about how many dairy farmers do not have their livestock registration in order.

If the RFC itself had not promised mountains of gold for the era after the abolition of the quota and the large farmers with a board position and a big finger in the pie had not grown so fast, a lot less farmers would have committed fraud... is not easy to talk about but can be explained

Did Frans have a chat with his (almost) neighbor Marc Calon last weekend? Do your own research and self-reflection first, isn't it because of your own bad phosphate reduction plan that this happened?

Who has already had a letter from you than Fransje.Dreigen alone never helps. There will also have to be sanctions or is this again like ohh I'm so tough, I also like to hear myself so much.
geert 30 January 2018
Dairy farmers have already been duped enough by the phosphate reduction law. Also received a letter this morning that we are still being cut on the payment entitlements, was still a legacy of Martijn van Dam, that money goes back to the nature organizations. In this way the farmers are always pulled out a leg. The farmers have their backs against the wall. LTO bumps into RFC and the Rabobank and threatens the farmers with expulsion, LTO better expel all farmers, then they can also dissolve themselves!

Don't count on the lto Geert because they want to save the cabbage and the goat.

Well Calf, those 2 lines you write above, everyone should take to heart. Exactly as you say it. We've had it ourselves too. And then something else: you give them an order and you pay, but in reality they work for or for the (Rabo) bank. However, we have since canceled our membership. But she wasn't interested in that either.
Ik 31 January 2018
Fraud is not good to talk about. But you're not going to tell me that no director of LTO or RFC knew nothing about this. Shouldn't they have responded sooner? If I said to impose sanctions for this, I propose to let both boards step up. They really knew about it. Don't you love the stupid now!

Again many reactions pointing to RFC, LTO, the banks. However, I miss the self-criticism. There has been fraud by dairy farmers and everyone is the victim. In this way you make it very easy for the European Commission to withdraw the derogation. In addition, you give the Party for the Animals, Wakker Dier and other environmental clubs a lot of ammunition to further narrow down livestock farming in the Netherlands and portray it as a criminal industry. A little more self-reflection would be in order.

Dear helmsmen, stand on the "sidelines", I think that the sector has received so much rottenness that the individual farmer can no longer be blamed for committing fraud.
If you get a nice clean and you can use it well, but you have to get rid of it from those guys for € 10, I would also start cheating.
And what our Frans and his associates do here, by putting all farmers as factory workers in the smallest possible box is a godsend! We have become farmers for a liberal profession! Not to be abused by the system and stuff like your French...
jpkievit 31 January 2018
30% of the agricultural sector is still a member of LTO in 5 years, no more members can be deleted because there are no more members LTO cannot be paid
west farmer 31 January 2018
All livestock farmers are responsible for what they do and do not do.
Placing the blame on LTO or RFC is not justified. They are not police.!
The bunglers of today are ruining a lot of goodwill for society as well as for the correct livestock farmers among us.
Let the government as a controlling body tackle these cheaters hard.
Ton Westgeest 31 January 2018
Of course they are responsible themselves .... But the blame lies with the LTO, dairy factory, banks, government and the coboys among us.
One of my neighbors milks 50 cows, is not to blame, is land-bound, does everything by the book and then has to reduce...
Ridiculous... you will probably belong to the coboys yourself and not have a penny of pain, everything done just in time with or without prior knowledge (friends at LTO or RFC). You might like it so much!
But I don't think so!!!!
Bob 31 January 2018
Westboer, you would almost say that you are a driver?
The directors of LTO and RFC first shouted that the farmers could supply more milk and were the first to participate fully in it and when they themselves had the sheep on dry land, something had to be done because there was too much milk, then I come to 1 conclusion that the biggest fraudsters are on the board of LTO, RFC and also NMV.
Carolien 31 January 2018
is fraud really fraud . if you have a light calf for trade the trader says give up 14 days later otherwise the calf is too light and you can keep it. this has been happening for several years, everyone does that because we have to deliver what the market demands. this makes it immediately clear that you can never meet the rules 100% you have to be creative
milker for nothing 31 January 2018
Those 7700 so-called bunglers are completely out of the blue. Sometimes you can only have 10% twins in a year. I think if everything is sorted out, at most 1000 will remain. There are 1000 too many of course.
Investigate first how it is before huge numbers are called.
Ton Westgeest 31 January 2018
Look and here you can see Carolien, that fraud is encouraged by the huge regulations....
Supposedly everything is correct on paper and everything is secured, but nothing is correct anymore. Everyone for himself, what suits him best, says that there is fraud. Show them they're good themselves and don't do it themselves, but they're all in on it...
It's a mess and we're almost killing each other. And who is the smiling third???
Ton Westgeest 31 January 2018
And Frans please get that arrogant grin off your face, because you're probably screwing yourself too...
Piet 31 January 2018
I hope that the dairy processors will put their words into action. No one has the right to cheat, not even those who think they have a right to do so (holy beans!)

I had kicked a cow which was filmed by municipal workers I was also punished By friesland campina lost a large account the regional board communicated more with my ex-partner than with me and I was checked on my facebook by employees of friesland campina to see if I had anything wrote wrong about them. My life has been destroyed. Keep your feet up and destroy their lives too! Success with it. I have been ready to farm young people for 25 years. that time is over

Well, what about labels and then? Just keep collecting milk. Otherwise you don't have much left.
Henk 9 February 2018
As a citizen who is interested in agriculture/fishing, I am shocked by some of the reactions. And I will understand that you farmers are sometimes afraid of your image within the civilian world. You yourself are contributing to that bad image, now go and see that.
Am I reading it right? A farmer who openly tells/admits that he kicked a cow and then just about everyone else would rather take it into the/his swamp.
Yes, yes I know about stubborn cows that don't want what you want but then start 'kicking'.
I sympathize with those farmers who do have the good intentions with their profession and act in good conscience. Yes, really, they are the victims.
