The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) is expanding its investigation into possible large-scale cattle fraud. The investigative body will now also check the removal of suspect animals (via export or slaughter).
The NVWA reports that, in the investigation into the tampering with the Identification and Registration System (I&R) for cattle, they will also check the suspected dairy farms for the removal of animals. They do this by checking the export and/or slaughter data.
Jos Verstraten, director at LTO Dairy Farming, informed news medium Nieuwe Oogst that fraudulent dairy farmers are trying to cover their tracks. They do this by having the animals slaughtered or exported. The NVWA claims to supervise the dairy farmers who intend to do this.
Burden of proof is fixed
A photo has been taken of the I&R registration of various companies. According to the NVWA, this serves as the burden of proof for the irregularities. The burden of proof is supported by other administrations, which have since been advanced.
According to the NVWA, the dairy farms that have committed fraud with the I&R registration have taken a major risk. When it is established that companies have committed fraud, these companies are locked. The CAP income support is also recovered. There will also be an additional assessment in the context of the phosphate reduction plan.
cattle fraud
The cattle fraud was reported by Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) last week. made public† At approximately 7.700 farms there would be inexplicably high numbers of multiple births.

How afraid we are that we will lack something
We need to stop kicking each other into the ground.
If LTO and the Zuivelfabrieken had not shouted so loudly before the end of the quota that more milk could come and the phosphate rights had been arranged prematurely, none of this would have happened.
In short, I would like to know how fast those directors have grown with their dairy herd between (January 1 or) April 1 and July 2, 2015 and let them make that public, then it could be an interesting outcome. .
