Bel Leerdammer keeps milk price above 37 euros

1 February 2018 - Herma van den Pol

Bel Leerdammer lowers the milk price for January. In this way, the processor does not deviate from the developments at FrieslandCampina and Arla. What does differ is the extent of the decline. This one is still quite modest.

Bel Leerdammer lowers the rating for both fat and protein in January. The price of fat will therefore drop to €3,20 per kilo, a minus of €0,55 per kilo. The protein price drops by €0,30, resulting in a price of €7,15 per kilo.

per 100 kilos

The changes result in a milk price of €37,52 per 100 kilos (with an annual supply of 600.000 kilos of milk, with 4,41% fat and 3,47% protein). This price excludes VAT, but includes a levy for ZuivelNL. If milk production increases to 800.000 kilos of milk, the price goes to €37,76 per 100 kilos and 1,1 million kilos of milk translates into a milk price of €37,95 per 100 kilos.

Compared to the month of December, this means a decrease of €3,30 per 100 kilos. It means that the cheese maker reduces the milk price less quickly than other processors, including FrieslandCampina en DOC Cheese. If the milk price is compared with that of 1 year earlier, the milk price is always €3,25 higher.

Surcharges
The milk price does not include supplements, because not every livestock farmer receives them. A total of €2,60 in premiums can be earned at Bel Leerdammer. Of this, €2 can be earned through grazing and €0,60 through sustainability. The grazing premium is paid monthly. The sustainability allowance will be paid out in March of the new year.
