From Argentine SanCor

Arla Foods takes over shares in AFISA

12 February 2018 - Kimberly Bakker

Arla Foods Ingredients has agreed to acquire the shares in Arla Foods Ingredients SA (AFISA). Until recently, the shares were largely owned by the Argentine dairy cooperative SanCor. Arla makes that known.

SanCor members have agreed to sell their (50%) stake in AFISA as part of the plan to restructure the Argentine dairy cooperative. In addition, Arla wants to grow its market in South America. Further terms and conditions of the transaction have not been disclosed.

“It's time to move forward separately. For us, this is a unique opportunity to grow our whey business in South America. AFISA will become a key element in Arla Foods Ingredients' global supply chain,” said Henrik Andersen, Senior Vice President at Arla Foods Ingredients.

AFISA
AFISA was founded in 2001 and has until now been owned by Arla Foods Ingredients and SanCor. At its site in Argentina's Cordoba province, AFISA processes approximately 900 million kilograms of whey each year, making it the largest processor of Argentina and the South American trading bloc Mercosur.
