FrieslandCampina succeeded in paying out a record amount of milk money in 2017. Hein Schumacher, CEO of FrieslandCampina, emphasized that it has been a while since the milk price started with a 4. The cooperative's turnover also increased, but profits fell.
The milk flow from the members in 2017 remained virtually the same as in 2016. This amounts to 10.716 million kilos of milk. The processor emphasizes that it continues to look for a good balance between supply, processing and market demand.
Record amount paid out
The milk yielded more in 2017 than in 2016. FrieslandCampina announces that it has paid the highest compensation since the company was founded. For example, compensation increased by 22,6% to €4.346 million.
The processor can also indicate that the members (54%) are satisfied with the cooperative. On the other hand, the performance premium fell to €1,03, where it was still €2016 in 2,19. The reserve on member bonds goes from €1,25 to €0,30.
Sales up, profits down
Turnover rose by 2017% for the whole of 10,1 to €12,1 billion. Profit decreased by 37,3% to €227 million. This decrease was partly due to the fact that the higher milk prices are not always translated into higher product prices. In Asia, for example, it was decided not to raise the prices of the products.
