Milk price DOC Cheese hits bottom

While milk prices at FrieslandCampina and Arla continued to fall in March, they did hit a bottom at DOC Kaas. At what level will the milk price hold?

The fat price at DOC Cheese will remain at €2,83 per kilo in March and the price of protein (€5,67 per kilo) will not change either. This means that the milk price (at 4,41% fat and 3,47% protein) remains at €32,07 per 100 kilos. This is based on an annual supply of 800.000 kilos of milk. This price excludes VAT, but includes the ZuivelNL levy.

Milk price comparison
Despite the milk price of FrieslandCampina for the month of March (-€0,25 to €34,70 per 100 kilos), this is above level from DOC Cheese. Of the first 3 milk prices known for March will be reduced Arla most.

The sideways movement at DOC Cheese corresponds with the German cheese price (Gouda 45) which is stabilizing (see graph), with a good question

(Text continues below the chart)The German cheese price is well below the 2017 level, but is following the trend.

Levies and premiums
At DOC Cheese a sustainability bonus of €0,90 per 100 kilos can be earned. From 2017 there is a separate grazing allowance, which can amount to €1,75 per 100 kilos.
