About 1,5 months after the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) started an investigation into the cattle registration of livestock farmers, 400 more companies have been blocked. The blockade of 1.800 other companies has been lifted, said Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality).
Of the 2.200 cattle farms that have been blocked, 1.800 have now been unblocked. They have been able to provide sufficient evidence to RVO.nl, whereby it is clear that the registration data in the Identification and Registration System (I&R) have been updated.
The 400 other companies are not yet able to deliver or transport livestock. The application for unblocking was rejected for 190 of these companies, because information was still missing or whether a company audit is deemed necessary. The other applications are still pending. There are also companies for which no additional data has yet been received, so late Schouten know in the letter to parliament.
I&R registration in order
Schouten also states that there have been more than 650 farmers who want to adjust the registration of their livestock in the I&R system on their own initiative. "The owner has requested that the mother or date of birth of the calf be adjusted. This is a significant increase compared to the usual number (about 200 recovery requests)," said Schouten in the letter. She expresses her appreciation for the voluntary contribution of these farmers, in order to get the I&R registration in order.
