Phosphate rights from seizure to be auctioned

17 April 2018 - Wouter Baan - 3 comments

Buyers of phosphate rights will soon be able to make an offer online. A public foreclosure auction will take place between April 23 and May 4 in which phosphate rights are auctioned that have been seized. This includes 4.117 kilos of rights (net purchase) under the hammer.

The first lots, of 150 and 250 kilos respectively, will close on the first trading day. Ids Schaap van Fosfaatrecht.nu is conducting the auction on behalf of Van Arkel Court Bailiffs. According to him, a conscious decision was made to trade the rights in relatively small lots. This is to keep the auction accessible to as many buyers as possible. A total of 18 lots will be auctioned; ranging from 150 to 300 kilos of phosphate (100% usable).

Five minute rule
The premium percentage is set at 1,5%. According to Schaap, this is relatively low compared to other auctions, where percentages between 10% and 17% are common. The 5 minute rule applies during the online auction. This means that the auction will be extended by 5 minutes if there is another bid in the last 5 minutes.

If I understand the contents of today's FriCa letter correctly, then bidding makes little sense for FriCa members. Does anyone have a different opinion?

Buy rights and then switch to A ware?

Exactly Dirk,

At most, for some, buy their reference full and for the rest, the phosphate trade will come to a complete standstill......

perhaps there is enthusiasm because phosphate rights are also on the way for beef cattle
