Arla keeps the milk price stable for May. It means the price has bottomed out and there even seems to be some reason for positivity cautiously again. This is now attracting prices. However, it remains to be vigilant for Arla, due to the developments surrounding Brexit.
Arla keeps the base price stable for the month of May. How this will affect the Dutch milk price will only be known later. Arla paid €4,41 per 3,47 kilos for April (with 600.000% fat and 29,02% protein and an annual supply of 100 kilos of milk). It appears that the milk price has reached the bottom and the declines that have caused the milk price to fall by more than 20% since December have come to an end.
Arla confirms in an explanation that the market is slightly friendlier than in previous months. "The commodity market and prices remain stable. We have also seen some improving prices in recent days as a result of persistently low milk supplies. The weather is mainly causing the lagging milk supply."
Brexit important
However, Brexit remains a point of attention. Which was reason for Arla to strive for an even greater saving on costs within the company. It is an external factor that does influence the milk price.
