The Dutch Milk Foundation (DMF) reports that 1 dairy farmers have switched from FrieslandCampina to another processor between 2017 July 1 and 2018 July 47. As a result of the departure of the members, the volume of milk available through DMF is also shrinking.
Between 1 July 2017 and 1 July 2018, 47 dairy farmers switched from the FrieslandCampina cooperative to another processor. Members were able to make use of the severance package of €5 per 100 kilos of milk, which is still applicable. The delivery in the previous calendar year is the basis for the settlement.
133 million kilos of milk away
In total, 9 applications were processed in the past 202 years. Of these, 156 were granted and 14 were rejected. A total of 30 applications are still pending. In total, DMF reports that the severance package involves 133 million kilos of milk. An increase of almost 57%, compared to 1 year earlier. The volume is equal to 11% of the amount to be made available.
The departure scheme is part of the 1,2 million kilos of raw milk that FrieslandCampina must make available to third parties. Something that was agreed upon with the merger between Friesland Foods and Campina. The remainder is offered to other parties through the Milk Availability Scheme. In total, the milk now goes to 3 processors.
The members of the dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina who want to switch must report this before 1 September. Then transition will take place on March 1 or later.
