'Dairy farmer must refrain from using glyphosate'

The German dairy company Hochland wants dairy farmers who produce milk within the 'Milch für Hochland' program to refrain from using glyphosate from 1 January 2019. The processor reports this on its website.

The dairy company also wants to prevent the milk from contaminated is with small plastic particles. For this reason, Hochland dairy farmers must refrain from using digestate from plants that once fermented foodstuffs wrapped in plastic for fertilization. 

'Milch for Hochland'
In the 'Milch für Hochland' programme, the dairy processor has made agreements with various supplier associations of dairy farmers in the south of Germany. It has been agreed in this program for some time that dairy farmers refrain from using feeds that genetically modified contain organisms.

The dairy farmers who participate in this Hochland program receive a bonus of €1 per 100 kilos of milk. Hochland achieved a turnover of more than €2016 billion in 1,2. The company is also mainly specialized in cheese and sells this product in more than 30 countries.
