Phosphate rights auctioned for record price

20 August 2018 - Wouter Baan - 10 comments

Last week, during an internet auction, phosphate rights were auctioned for a record price of €237 per right. The price includes auction costs of 1,5%.

Leon Veltman says on behalf of Fosfaatrecht.nu that a total of 8 bids have been made on the lot. More than 70 bidders were online during the auction, while the ad was viewed more than 3.500 times. The plot size was 200 kilos of phosphate.

Rapid price increase
In a relatively short time, the price of phosphate rights rose quickly; since the beginning of June, the rights are structurally traded for amounts above €200 per right. After that, the DCA quotation, with some fluctuations, rose to €230,50 per right (weekend 33).

In the regular market, rights are currently traded for €235, Veltman says. The price increase signals that there is a lot of demand and that dairy farmers often do not have the time to calmly wait for market movements. Veltman has the impression that the majority of dairy farmers pay for the rights from their own financial resources.

It's just what the crazy gives for it, market insight is completely missing

Why is market insight lacking? It's supply and demand, and the trend is upward.
Especially now that the milk price is better than expected.

investing a lot of money, chasing the phosphate rights against each other and working day and night for 10 euro cents below cost. Farming is a separate profession; usually they are proud too, when understand is this madness??

I don't know how long you've been burping, but it's always been that way with farmers!

would like to offer my pig rights for this and, as bird watcher plans, with a 50% discount, then at least €400 per pig (or €800 then for 50%)

Whether you buy them each must know for himself if you don't need them and have enough food and don't have to dispose of shit then you're quite off but what a lot of money can never think that it would go like this

I'm glad I bought them a long time ago!!

rather buy phosphate rights than pay tax!

if it becomes easier to purchase p rights, as is now the case with hire-purchase, if the rabobank also extends the repayment term of more than 5 years, it is also the only bank, then the price will only go up

How so? What is the repayment term at the other banks?
