DOC Kaas presents another increase in the milk price for September, making it the fourth increase in a row. In the Netherlands, this means that the milk price distances itself from the FrieslandCampina price with a lower delivery. However, with a higher delivery, the price goes up again.
DOC Kaas delivers the fourth increase in a row. For example, the fat price rises to €3,154 per kilo and the protein price is €6,308 per kilo. For an annual supply of 600.000 kilos of milk, this translates into an above-average milk price, which amounts to €35,11 per 100 kilos.
FrieslandCampina is running late
With a milk price of €35,40 per 100 kilos (at 4,41% fat and 3,47% protein), the price increases by €0,48 per 100 kilos compared to the month of August. Since May, the milk price has increased by €3,63. This means that FrieslandCampina's price (with an annual supply of 600.000 kilos of milk) will again increase.
However, with an annual supply of 900.000 kilos of milk, the difference between the 2 processors shrinks to €0,41. And with a delivery of 1,1 million kilos of milk, there is only a difference of €0,26 per 100 kilos. The question is now the extent to which DOC Cheese continues to increase the price.
Just as was the case last year, several dairy farmers have indicated that they want to switch to another dairy processor. Does DOC Kaas consider it necessary to repeat the charm offensive via the milk price, or will they opt for a more market-based milk price this year?
Levies and premiums
At DOC Cheese a maximum sustainability and grazing bonus of €2,25 per 100 kilos of milk can be earned. This amount is only reserved for Dutch livestock farmers. The milk price of DOC Cheese has taken another step upwards.
