Prices on the feed market will almost all remain stable in week 39, but at particularly high levels. On the other hand, spent grains actually show a decline. What will the price for this product be like?
The price of straw dropped last week seeing a significant increase, but has stabilized this week. Traders indicate that there is less demand, but at the same time supply remains scarce. The price is currently kept high by flower bulb growers, because they actively purchase straw.
The price for straw will therefore remain at €145 per tonne free at the farm this week. A number of traders indicate that the future of the market is uncertain. "It could be that the market suddenly collapses around Christmas."
Slight price drop for silage maize
The price of silage corn shows a slight decline, but traders say that demand for the product is falling even faster. This means that the price comes to €57,50 per tonne, free of charge. According to the traders, the product is sometimes sold for lower prices, but then there is almost no cob in it.
The price of spent grains also shows a slight decrease again. The price fell to €2,60 per percent dry matter last week and this week the price drops to €2,50 per percent dry matter. Forage traders indicate that this price may fall even further in the coming period, partly due to the lack of demand.
The demand for straw is decreasing somewhat, causing the price to stabilize.
Meadow hay stable, but high
The price of meadow hay has stabilized at €225 per tonne free at farm. This is mainly due to the fact that the product is very scarce. In addition, it is still very dry in France, which means that French livestock farmers are holding on to their product. As a result, the price does not have the opportunity to fall.
Not much has happened in recent weeks when it comes to perennial ryegrass and silage. This means that prices remain at €160 and €50 per tonne, free of charge, respectively. The traders indicate that livestock farmers are more interested in silage maize and straw, which limits demand.
What is not available?
There is virtually no trade in red fescue, tall fescue and meadow meadow. This means that prices remain at €150, €150 and €155 per tonne, free of charge, respectively. There is also no longer any trade in feed potatoes. That price remains at €40 per tonne, free of charge.
