Figures from Wageningen University show that the price of standard chunk A increased by no less than €0,70 to €23,80 per 100 kilos in September. The listing has been on the rise continuously for almost 1 year. Since October last year, the price has risen by €3 per 100 kilos.

The price of protein-rich chunks (B) also increased last month; with €0,50 to €26,40 per 100 kilos. Other cattle feeds, such as calf and beef bull feed, also increased by a similar magnitude.

Commodity prices
The price increase in recent months is related to drought. As a result, some feed raw material prices have risen sharply. The price of wheat (Matif) has a firm bottom at €200 per tonne. This soil will be tested in the coming weeks, partly because the Russian wheat harvest turns out more spacious than expected; of the 71.000 tons, 35.000 tons are available for export. There is one there area increase ahead.

On the other hand, the commonly used raw materials (such as soy hulls, palm kernel expellers and rapeseed meal) are available in relatively limited quantities. The compound feed price indicator predicts stable price developments in the coming months.
