The price of pasture hay remains standing at €225 per tonne free at farm, mainly because the supply is still very limited. Various traders expect this to continue in the coming period, which means that the price is expected to rise further towards the end of the year.
Transport capacity a problem?
The price for straw (both barley and wheat straw) remains stable at €145 per tonne, delivered to the farm. Some traders have faced a shortage of transport in recent weeks. Here and there it is expected that the market for silage maize can still play a role towards the end of the year. The traders report that there will certainly be a demand for feed products in the winter; According to them, the livestock farmers' stock is currently not sufficient to get through the winter.
Price of spent grain continues to decline
The price of spent grain has been declining for weeks and is declining again this week. This means that the price comes to €2,35 per percent dry matter. There is not a lot of demand for the product, but that currently applies to all roughage products.
The price for silage grass remains stable again (€50 per tonne delivered to the farm) and there is little demand from livestock farmers. In addition, the price of perennial ryegrass also remains stable; this is quoted at €160 per tonne, free of charge.
