The 20 largest dairy processors jointly control 25% of the world's milk pool. This is apparent from an overview of the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN). FrieslandCampina (RFC) is in sixth place with a market share of 6%.
The 20 largest dairies collected approximately 2017 million tons of milk in 211, which is 11 million tons more than the measurement two years ago. With a supply of 2 million tons, Dairy Farmers of America is lonely at the top. The American conglomerate thus has a market share of 29,2%.
With a milk supply of 23,7 million tons, the New Zealand dairy Fonterra is in second place. The French Lactalis completes the podium with a milk supply of 19,6 million tons.
Arla and FrieslandCampina
Arla Foods is in fourth place. The milk supply of this dairy, which is also a prominent player in the Netherlands, reached 4 million tons of milk last year. Nestlé closely follows that processor, with 13,9 million tons. FrieslandCampina takes sixth place with an (estimated) milk supply of 13,7 million tons, the majority of which is collected in the Netherlands.
DMK, which also includes DOC Kaas, is just not one of the 10 largest dairies. The German/Dutch company is in eleventh place with an (estimated) supply of 8,1 million tons. This accounts for a 1% share of the global milk supply.
