Dairy farmers in the Netherlands paid an average of €2017 per tonne of concentrates in 250. With this price, the Netherlands is in the middle bracket, compared to other important dairy countries.
The figures from IFCN show that Dutch dairy farmers have an average of €2017 per tonne of concentrates in 250 paid† This is an average price compared to other European countries. Prices were slightly lower on the various dairy farms in Germany, Denmark and Ireland: ranging from €220 to €240 per tonne of concentrate.
In France and Poland, however, the price for concentrates is much higher than in the Netherlands. The average price in these countries is over €315 per tonne, which is 25% higher than in the Netherlands.
What is the price outside Europe?
The spread in price is even greater outside Europe. On a farm in Argentina, a dairy farmer paid on average just under €160 for 1 tonne of concentrate. However, a dairy farmer in New Zealand lost more than €500 per tonne.
In the United States, about €2017 per ton was paid for concentrates in 200, which is quite cheap compared to other countries. Australian dairy farmers pay almost the same for concentrates as Dutch dairy farmers did in 2017.
