FrieslandCampina takes over Spanish cheese company

13 December 2018 - Tim Roetman - 3 comments

FrieslandCampina takes over another cheese company. A few days ago, the company announced that it has acquired the American Jana Foods and now the Spanish cheese packer and distributor 'Millán Vicente' is being added to the cooperative.

With this takeover, the dairy cooperative wants to give cheese sales in Portugal and Spain a 'boost'. FrieslandCampina and Millán Vicente have been partners for many years and with the acquisition FrieslandCampina hopes to strengthen its market position in Spain. The dairy cooperative does not disclose the financial details of the acquisition.

FrieslandCampina is already active in Spain with a sales office and about 35 people work there. With the takeover of Millán Vicente, approximately 90 employees will be added. In 2017, Millán Vicente reportedly had a turnover of between €25 million and €50 million.

Strategy takes shape
About 1 month ago FrieslandCampina launched a new strategy: 'Our Purpose, Our Plan'. In it, the company announced that it would focus more on the cheese market. Now, 1 month later, FrieslandCampina already has 2 cheese importers taken over† It can be concluded from this that the company is not letting grass grow on it. Last August, the cooperative BestCheese also about.

Cheese is an important dairy product, as approximately 50% of the milk from the Netherlands is processed into cheese. A spokesperson for the company says that Dutch cheese is highly regarded abroad and the dairy cooperative wants to respond to this.

Finally seen the light..... America and Spain is much better than being screwed in China and much safer than in Muslim countries with investments. There only deliver do not invest!
Now even less bullying our own farmers with stupid rules and meddling in their own yard....

Money was with fc Now the members still a good price for the milk. Or was that not the first thought when it was founded. That Chinese adventure is just stupid. became wise years ago, but nothing is learned from it. You bring knowledge and expertise and you are bullied away. It's like teaching a monkey to ride a bike, sooner or later he will cycle past you.
You can no longer respond.
