Arla Foods acquires Kraft Foods cheese business

Arla has acquired a cheese division from Kraft Foods. It concerns the branch in North Africa and the Middle East. This part currently has a turnover of €0,5 billion, but Arla has big plans. The company aims to increase its turnover to €2025 billion by 1.

The purpose of the acquisition is to enhance the market position of Arla Strengthen foods in this region. The demand for cheese in the Middle East and North Africa is expected to increase in the coming years, making this a step for the future, according to the company.

“We already have an established and growing business in the Middle East and we know our customers and consumers in this part of the world very well. So this is a good strategic move for us. local production," said Peder Tuborgh, CEO of Arla Foods. The company has not released any further financial details.

Responding to another market
The strategy of Mondelèz, the parent company of Kraft Foods, is to increasingly focus on the fast-growing market of chocolate, cookies and candies. In doing so, in some parts of the world it is moving away from other markets, such as the cheese market in North Africa and the Middle East.
