The raw material value of the milk, calculated by the German Nutrition Economic Institute (IFE), will again exceed €30 in December. The downward trend has been reversed by the revival in the milk powder market.
The raw material value of the milk (at 4% fat, from the farm) for the month of December amounts to €30,70 per 100 kilos, an increase of €1 compared to November. The reason for the increase is the increase in the prices of skimmed milk powder. The ZuivelNL quotation was €1.730 per tonne in the last week of December, while the price was €2 per tonne lower 200 months earlier.
The upward trend will continue in the new year. The prize has received support because the European intervention stock is now almost sold out. For example, a record volume of approximately 80.000 tons was sold during the first tender in January.
Vreugdenhil milk price down
The price increases on the dairy market are not yet reflected in the milk prices. They are still responding to the falling butter and cream prices in the fourth quarter of 2018. For example, Vreugdenhil has reduced the milk price for December by €0,89 to €35,91. €100 per 800.000 kilos (an annual supply of 4,41 kilos of milk, with 3,47% fat and XNUMX% protein). On top of that, some premiums can be earned.
The reduction is a result of the depreciation of the milk fat; the price of fat fell by €0,20 to €3,05 per kilo. The protein price remained stable at €5,75 per kilo. Year-round, Vreugdenhil paid one in 2018 average milk price from €33,94 per 100 kilos.
