Lely sold the roughage activities in 2017, allowing the company to fully focus on robotics. This appears to have been a good move, given that the growth of this part in 2018 was approximately 9%. The number of orders has also never been higher.
Lely realized a turnover of €2018 million in 416, which is considerably lower than the turnover for 2017 (€506 million). However, this creates a skewed picture, because the turnover from the roughage branch still counted for the total turnover until October 2017. That was no longer the case in 2018. The company does not share how much profit Lely has made.
Because the focus is now completely on the robotics branch, the company has realized a turnover growth of 9% in that part. In addition, the company continues to invest 6% of its turnover in the field of innovation. Finally, the number of orders is higher than ever, which is a good prospect for the tech giant.
Foreign ambitions
Lely wants to focus even more on foreign markets in 2019, such as China. The robot builder opened an office there in 2018. Lely has also increased their expansion in Greece, Hungary, Taiwan, Uruguay and Argentina.
